Safety Mode AI

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 11 October 2026  |  Last updated: 11 October 2026

Safety Mode AI ("the App") is a personal safety application designed to help users respond to potentially threatening or dangerous situations.

Your privacy and the security of your personal information are important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Safety Mode AI accesses, uses, stores and shares information when you use the App, including its Silent Mode, Deterrent Mode, voice activation, emergency contact notifications, location sharing and audio/video recording features.

By using Safety Mode AI, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy.

1. Introduction and Contact Details

Developer: Shaun Beaumont

2. Information and Permissions We Use

Safety Mode AI may request access to the following device features, depending on the features you choose to use and the permissions supported by your device.

Location information

When an emergency activation occurs, the App may access your device's location to include geographical coordinates in an emergency SMS sent to your selected emergency contacts.

Location access is used to support safety features, including helping your contacts determine your approximate whereabouts during an emergency. Location information is not intended to be collected for advertising or general tracking purposes.

Location accuracy and availability depend on your device, location settings, network conditions and operating system permissions.

Camera and microphone

When recording is activated, the App may use your device's camera and microphone to capture video and audio.

Recordings are intended to help preserve evidence of an incident. Under the current app functionality, recordings are saved to your device's Gallery when you deactivate the safety session, subject to device capabilities and permissions. Recording is subject to the App's configured time limit.

The App may also use microphone access to support voice activation when that feature is enabled.

You should be aware of your surroundings and applicable laws when making audio or video recordings. You are responsible for using these features lawfully.

Emergency contacts

The App may request access to your device's contacts so that you can select the people you want to notify in an emergency.

Contact access is used to support this selection and the sending of emergency messages. You should only designate people who you are comfortable receiving emergency notifications and location information.

SMS and phone messaging

When you activate the relevant emergency feature, the App can use your device's native cellular messaging capability to send an emergency SMS to your selected contacts.

The message may contain an SOS or help notification and your device's location coordinates.

Messages are sent through your mobile network operator using your SIM, rather than through an online SMS messaging provider. Your mobile operator may process the message and associated delivery information under its own privacy policy and may charge standard messaging fees.

Message delivery is dependent on factors such as mobile coverage, SIM availability, device configuration and network operation. The App cannot guarantee that a message will be delivered or received.

Notifications and device permissions

The App may request notification and other Android permissions required to operate its safety features. These permissions are used to support the functionality you choose to enable.

You can manage available permissions through your device settings. Disabling a required permission may prevent some features from working correctly.

3. How We Use Information

Information accessed through the App is used to provide its intended safety functionality, which may include:

We will not use your emergency location, recordings or contact information for advertising, selling personal information, or creating advertising profiles.

4. How Information Is Stored

Safety Mode AI is designed to use device capabilities to perform its core safety functions.

Server storage and third-party services: Any cloud storage, analytics, crash reporting, artificial intelligence service or other third-party service used by a particular version of the App must be disclosed in this Privacy Policy if it collects or receives personal information. Refer to Section 7 for further details.

Information stored on your device may be accessible to anyone who has access to your unlocked device, Gallery, messaging application or backups. We recommend securing your device with an appropriate screen lock.

5. When Information Is Shared

Your designated emergency contacts: When you activate an emergency notification, the App may send them an SMS containing an emergency message and your location coordinates.

Your mobile network operator: Your mobile carrier processes SMS messages sent through its network.

Device and platform providers: Android, Google Play and other providers involved in operating or distributing the App may process information under their own policies and terms.

Legal requirements and safety: Information may be disclosed where required by applicable law or where disclosure is otherwise legally permitted.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

The App does not automatically notify police, emergency services or other authorities unless a specific feature expressly provides that functionality. You should not assume that activating the App automatically contacts emergency services.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Safety Mode AI is intended to minimise unnecessary retention of information.

Audio/video recordings are saved to your device's Gallery in accordance with the App's recording functionality. Once saved, you can generally manage or delete them using your device's Gallery or file management tools.

SMS messages may remain in your device's messaging application and on systems operated by your mobile carrier, subject to their applicable retention practices.

Information held by third-party providers, if applicable, may be retained according to their own policies.

Uninstalling the App does not necessarily delete recordings, SMS messages, backups or other information previously saved outside the App's private storage.

If you have questions about the deletion of information or information handled by the developer, please contact us using the details in Section 11.

7. Third-Party Services

The App may depend on third-party operating system features, app distribution services, mobile networks or other services to operate.

These providers may process information under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the policies of relevant providers, including Google and your mobile network operator.

If future versions of Safety Mode AI introduce analytics, crash-reporting tools, cloud services, online AI processing, subscriptions or other third-party integrations that collect or receive personal information, this policy will be updated to explain what is collected, why it is collected and how it is handled.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable steps appropriate to the App's design and operation to protect information handled by the developer against unauthorised access, misuse, loss or disclosure.

However, no mobile application, device, cellular network or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You should keep your device and operating system updated, protect your device with a secure screen lock and ensure that your designated emergency contacts are correct.

9. Children's Privacy

Safety Mode AI is not specifically directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly seek to collect children's personal information through a central developer-operated database.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a child has provided personal information to the developer, please contact us so that the matter can be reviewed.

Where applicable law imposes a different minimum age or additional requirements, those requirements apply.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information held by the developer, or to raise concerns about how your information is handled.

For users in Australia, applicable rights and obligations may arise under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, where applicable.

Because much of the App's core functionality operates through your device, some information may be held by your device, your mobile carrier or another provider rather than by the developer. Requests concerning that information may need to be directed to the relevant provider.

To make a privacy enquiry or request, contact us using the details in Section 11.
